Five on Friday: Mary Kay Edition

Jul 12, 2013

So you know that Mary Kay VoxBox I've been talking about the past couple of weeks? I finally sat down and dove in! And it just so happens that there were five items in the box, and it's Friday. Perfect for the 'Five on Friday' link-up!
I first found out about Influenster from a friend on Instagram. She got an awesome VoxBox and I wanted one! After asking for an invite, I signed up, answered some surveys and questionnaires, and ended up qualifying for the MaryKay VoxBox. The whole idea is that we, the people, test out products, share our opinions with our family and friends, and review what we get! I was super excited when mine came in the mail. Who am I kidding, I'm always excited when there's a package with my name on it!
What a greeting, am I right?!
I had no idea what to expect from this box. I thought I might be getting small, sample sizes, but everything was the original size. In the box were the following...
voxbox

ONE & TWO | I had never used a lash primer in my life. I'll be honest, I've been more of a plain, as few as possible, drugstore makeup type of gal. But after using this Lash Primer, I could tell a major difference with how well the mascara stayed put during the day. That's super important, especially with this summer heat! With other mascaras, I've usually got some sort of raccoon look going come evening time.

THREE | This is probably my favorite! I love using eye shadow for dimension, but the powdered eye shadows I've been using don't go on evenly. Even though it's a darker color, it can still go on as light as you want it, is easy to apply, and looks really natural. I love pairing purple shades with my golden-brown eyes and this one was subtle with just enough color.

FOUR | The only makeup tools I usually use are my foundation and blush brushes....and my finger. I gave this brush a shot and loved the shape of it and how easy it made applying not only the cream shadow, but some of my other powdered colors, too. Plus, it was nice having clean fingers afterwards! I may not always use a brush as I'm usually putting makeup on in a rush, but it's nice to have for those take-my-time kind of days.

FIVE | Since I began wearing makeup in my teen years, I've only ever worn either chapstick or a clear or slightly tinted gloss. Before I even got the voxbox, I had tried out several different actual lipsticks when occasion permitted. I'm a big fan of red lips, but haven't found the right shade. I hadn't tried any pinks until Pink Cherie came along. It's a little bright for my taste, but I think it could look classy if paired with the right outfit.

I was pleasantly surprised with my first VoxBox from Influenster and have really enjoyed the products- okay, who doesn't love free anything? I had a couple of weeks to test these things out and I've enjoyed changing up my routine a bit.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your go-to makeup must-haves?

Note: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

  1. How fun! I used to use Mary Kay all the time, but haven't in years now. I always loved their moisturizer and eye makeup remover. I might have to try a lash primer... my eyelashes could use all the help they can get :) I'm quickly becoming a lipstick fan, too!
